ALGIERS – Saturday, 16 December 2023 (APS) – The Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, received Saturday the Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area “AfCFTA”, Wamkele Mene.
During the meeting, which took place at the Ministry’s headquarters, Zitouni stressed that “the specific lists of tariff positions subject to tariff dismantling within the framework of the AfCFTA are ready, following their elaboration with all the sectors concerned in Algeria, as part of the acceleration of this continental space, in line with the instructions of the President of the Republic aimed at encouraging intra-African trade.”
For his part, Wamkele Mene welcomed “Algeria’s efforts over the past four years, supported by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebbid to speed up the AfCFTA procedures, through Algeria’s involvement in African initiatives and its opening up to the African market through banks and permanent showrooms for Algerian products in Mauritania and Senegal, as well as the opening of air and sea routes to several of the continent’s capitals.”
