ALGIERS – Wednesday, 06 December 2023 (APS) – The minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, took part Wednesday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, in the works of the first day of the 12th Ministers Council meeting of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the ministry said in a statement.

The meeting discussed the secretary general’s report 2023, the progress rate of the electronic trading protocol, the promotion of women’s and youth’s involvement in African trade, in addition to the investment protocol to be submitted to the heads of state and prime ministers of the African Union for adoption, the statement said.

In an address at the meeting, Zitouni stressed “the need to deal, as quickly as possible, with the pending issues and overcome the obstacles hampering the establishment of effective foundations for this commercial participatory space.”

The minister emphasized the need to “address the issues under consideration, namely the rules of origin for the textile sector, the car industry and the integration rate.”
