ALGIERS – Thursday, 20 July 2023 (APS) – Algeria affirmed that the Zionist entity’s decision on occupied Western Sahara is a “blatant violation of the international law and the resolutions of the UN Security Council and General Assembly,” adding that it cannot, in any circumstances, put in question the inalienable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad said Thursday in a statement.

Algeria has taken note of the announcement made by the Moroccan authorities on the “recognition” by the Zionist occupation of “Morocco’s alleged sovereignty over the territories of Western Sahara.”

“This act coming from an occupation authority with a black record in terms of violation of international laws and international legality is a new episode in the series of manoeuvres and the escaping forward policy adopted by the Moroccan occupation,” said the source.

This decision, which is “a blatant violation of the international law and the resolutions of UN General Assembly and Security Council related to the issue of Western Sahara, shows, without a shadow of a doubt, the coordination of the two occupiers’ policies and their collusion in the violation of the international laws and the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent State with al-Quds as capital and that of the Sahrawi people to self-determination,” underlined the source.

This decision, which is but a “flagrant deal,” “cannot under any circumstances legitimate the occupation of the Sahrawi territories and cannot put in question the inalienable right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination, in accordance with the resolutions of the Security Council, the United Nations and the African Union,” said the source.
