ALGIERS – Thursday, 09 November 2023 (APS) – The Minister of National Education, Abdelhakim Belaabed, during his participation in the 42nd session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), announced Thursday, in Paris, the candidacy of Algeria for the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage for 2024-2028.
“The Algerian government decided to put forward its candidacy for the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage for 2024-2028,” Belaabed said.
He said that this decision in part of “Algeria’s pursuit of its vital role in promoting cultural and human heritage,” seeking, in this regard, the support of UNESCO for the candidacy of Algeria.
