NEW YORK (UN) – Saturday, 24 September 2022 (APS) – The President of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly (GA), Csaba Korosi hailed Saturday the “prominent role” of Algeria in establishing peace in the region and on the international scene in general, highlighting its “exceptional contribution” to mediation for the settlement of international conflicts. 

Korosi made this statement during a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra.

He praised the “prominent role of Algeria in the establishment of peace and stability in the region and on the international scene in general.” 

Korosi, who expressed his admiration for “the rich and exceptional course of Algerian diplomacy in conducting mediation for the settlement of conflicts,” said he hoped that Algeria “will wisely deal with the challenges imposed by the growing tensions on the international scene.”

The President of the UN GA also welcomed “the support and contribution of Algeria to the successful term” as president of this UN body. 

Lamamra congratulated Csaba Korosi on his election to the presidency of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, expressing “Algeria’s support and willingness to work closely” under his leadership to achieve the priorities of this session in the areas of peace, security, sustainable development, and human rights.
