ALGIERS – Monday, 05 June 2023 (APS) – Algeria’s trade balance recorded a surplus of 3.5 billion dollars over the first quarter of 2023, the minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, said Monday in Algiers.

In his presentation to the Committee on Economic Affairs, Development, Industry, Trade and Planning at the People’s National Assembly (Lower House of Parliament), under the presidency of Kamel Belakhdar, in the presence of the minister of Relations with Parliament, Basma Azouar, and many Trade ministry’s officials, Zitouni said the value of imports from January to April this year had reached 13.89 billion dollars and that of exports 17.39 billion dollars during the same periods, that is a surplus of 3.5 billion dollars.

Non-hydrocarbon exports have reached 1.7 billion dollars in the first quarter of 2023, according to the minister.

The minister added that efforts were being made for the increase of that figure and the implementation of the goal set by the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to reach 13 billion dollars by late 2023.
