ALGIERS – Tuesday, 14 November 2023 (APS) – Tasked by President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, will begin a working visit to the United Kingdom (Great Britain and Northern Ireland) on Tuesday, according to a statement from the ministry.

During this visit, which is part of the 2nd session of the Algerian-British strategic dialogue, the prospects for strengthening bilateral relations in their various aspects – security, political, economic and cultural – will be discussed, in addition to regional and international issues of common interest, in particular the latest developments in the situation in the Middle East and on the African continent, the source added.

“The visit’s programme also includes several bilateral meetings with British officials, as well as a meeting with businessmen, in the presence British Prime Minister’s special envoy responsible for promoting economic partnership with Algeria, Lord Richard Risby, and a multipartite meeting in preparation for Algeria’s membership of the Security Council” from 1 January next year, according to the same source.

Attaf will also give a lecture at the British Chatham House Institute on the situation in the Sahel, Algeria’s role in establishing security and stability, and its contribution to economic development in this neighbouring region.

He will also meet representatives of national community established in the United Kingdom, the source concluded.
