TIZI-OUZOU – Friday, 11 March 2022 (APS) – Two fishing boats manufactured by an Algerian company, which will be delivered shortly to Mauritania, were presented Thursday at the shipyard of Azeffoun, 70 km north-east of Tizi-Ouzou.
The two small trade” type boats are made of fiberglass and measure 14 meters long.” They are manufactured by the Algeria-Korea Marine Services Company (SAKOMAS) and will be shipped in a few days to Mauritania, via the port of Algiers, said the representative of the Ministry of Fishing and Fisheries Productions, Amar Belassel. Speaking at Sakomas shipyard, Belassel said “this is the first time Algeria exports this type of boats.”

The export, which is part of the Government’s strategy to diversify the economy, was to take place in spring 2020 but was delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic, said Belassel.

The presentation of the boats is the first step in the export process. It will be followed by their transport by land to the port of Algiers a then their export to Mauritania by sea via the new Algiers-Nouakchott shipping line.
