ALGIERS – Sunday, 28 May 2023 (APS) – At a meeting of the Council of Ministers he chaired on Sunday, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune ordered the allocation of DZD10 billion (DZD1,000 billion centimes) from the Natural Disaster Fund to compensate victims of the recent bad weather.
The compensation operation should be completed by the end of the week, stressed the President of the Republic, who ordered the rehousing of all those who had completely lost their homes within 48 hours of the release of the Council of Ministers’ communiqué, in addition to the immediate restoration of damaged roads and facilities and the mobilization of buses for school transport in areas currently difficult for pedestrians to access.
Moreover, the President of the Republic ordered the payment of an allowance, at the State’s expense, to fishermen affected by the bad weather, until damaged harbors are rehabilitated, as well as the immediate compensation of fishermen who lost their fishing boats.
President Tebboune also instructed the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning, and the Minister of National Solidarity, the Family and Women’s Affairs to convey his condolences to the families of the victims of the recent bad weather.
