DOHA (Qatar) – Sunday, 20 February 2022 (APS) – Algeria and Qatar signed Sunday, in Doha, many memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and agreements on cooperation as part of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s state visit to Qatar, at the invitation of its Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

The signing ceremony took place at the Emir’s Palace, under the supervision of President Tebboune and the Emir of the State of Qatar.

The first agreement on the establishment of political consultation and coordination among the foreign ministers of the two countries was signed by the minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, and Qatar’s deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurrahman Al- Thani.

The second agreement, on legal and judicial cooperation in criminal matters between the two governments, was signed by Minister of Justice Abderrachid Tabi and Qatar’s Attorney General Bin Saad Al Nuaimi.

The minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Affairs, Kaouter Krikou, and Qatar’s minister of Social Development and Family, Mariam bint Al-Misnad, signed an agreement in the field of social development and family.

In the teaching field, the minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Abdelbaki Benziane, and Qatar’s minister of Education and Higher Education, Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al-Nuaimi, signed the second executive programme on higher education and Scientific and technological Research, under the agreement on educational and scientific cooperation between the governments of the two countries for the school years 2022-2025.

President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune held talks Sunday, in Doha, with the Emir of the State of Qatar, where he is on a two-day state visit.

The president of the Republic and the delegation accompanying him were received by the Emir of Qatar in his office. The two leaders listened to the national anthems of the two countries and inspected a detachment of the princely guard of Qatar that received them with honours.

The officials of the two countries held discussions before the president of the Republic and the Emir of Qatar held one-on-one talks.
