ALGIERS – Wednesday, 26 April 2023 (APS) – The minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, arrived Tuesday evening in Bamako, as a special envoy of the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for a working visit to Mali as part of enhancing bilateral relations and in support of the efforts to restore peace and stability in this sister and neighborly country, the ministry said in a statement.

“In his capacity as special envoy of president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, arrived this evening in Bamako, Mali, for a working visit as part of the strengthening of bilateral relations and in support of peace and stability in this brotherly and neighborly country,” the statement said.

Upon his arrival, Ahmed Attaf had discussions with his Malian counterpart, Abdoulaye Diop, in the presence of the minister of National Defence and War Veterans and the ministry of National Reconciliation in charge of the agreement on peace and reconciliation in Mali resulting from the Process of Algiers, the statement said.

The bilateral discussions were then extended to the delegations of the two countries, in a work session focusing on “the ways to boost cooperation between the two countries and smooth the obstacles hindering the efforts for the completion of the peace and reconciliation process in Mali.”
