ALGIERS – Saturday, 05 August 2023 (APS) – President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune tackled, during the periodic interview granted to the representatives of the national media outlets, several national, regional and international issues.

 

During this interview, which will be aired on Saturday evening on TV channels and Radio stations, the President of the Republic paid tribute to the victims of the forest fires which affected recently some regions of the country, saying “I pay tribute to the victims of the fires, who are martyrs. May Allah have mercy upon them.”

“We have received a large fire fighting plane and charted six other planes even before the outbreak of these fires,” in addition to “the strengthening of the equipment of the Civil Protection,” which enabled extinguishing these fires in 24 hours in some places, and in 72 hours in other regions,” said the President of the Republic.

As regards water supply, President Tebboune said that water production in Algeria “will reach, after the completion of the construction of the scheduled seawater desalination plants, a total of 1.4 billion M3,” adding that Algeria becomes, consequently, “the first African country and the third Arab country to produce water by using the seawater desalination technique.”

The President of the Republic affirmed that the housing programs “will not stop,” reiterating his commitment to completing the execution of railway projects. “We have contacted our Chinese friends to embark on an ambitious program,” he said.

At the international level, President Tebboune reaffirmed the necessity of returning to the constitutional legitimacy in Niger and advocating a peaceful solution to the crisis in this country, adding “We are ready to help Niger, if we are asked to.”

In his reply to a question on his visit to France, the President of the Republic said “Our visit to France is still relevant. We are waiting the program of the visit from the French Presidency.”
