LISBON (Portugal) – Tuesday, 23 May 2023 – President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune received Tuesday in Lisbon, Portugal, a solemn welcome from his Portuguese counterpart, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, as part of his State visit to this friendly country.

The solemn welcome was given at the Empire Square (Praça do Império), near the headquarters of the presidency of the Portuguese Republic.

The two leaders greeted each other then took a souvenir photo with the two ministerial delegations, before reviewing a detachment of different Portuguese armed forces.

They afterwards listened to the national anthems of both countries and 21 cannon shots were fired.

President Tebboune subsequently visited the Jerónimos Monastery with unique architectural character‎, where he received information on the the famous Portuguese poet, Luis de Camoes, whose monument is housing his tomb, before laying a wreath and signing the Guestbook at the Palace of the presidency.
