ALGIERS – Monday, 02 October 2023 (APS) – The president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in a Council of ministers meeting he chaired on Sunday, ordered the development of the Imam’s special status, which will include a wage review.
According to the statement of the Council of Ministers, the president of the Republic ordered to deal with imam’s affairs, their classification and issues relating to mosques for a better organization of the sector.”
In line with his commitments, President Tebboune ordered “the development of a special status for Imams that includes a wage review.”
The president of the Republic ordered the minister of the Interior to coordinate with walis (province governors) and “grant housing, as part of the accommodation provided with the job, to imams in all great mosques nationwide or in new towns.”
