ALGIERS – Sunday, 28 August 2022 (APS) – President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chairing a Council of Ministers meeting on Sunday, ordered the creation of a High Council of Journalist Ethics, which will decide on media-related professional issues.
Discussing the organic law on information at the Council of Ministers meeting, President Tebboune stressed the “role of the High Council of the Press in the determination of the concepts relating to the definition of the occupational categories of the information sector, and the distinction between the breach of professional ethics and the criminal aspect.”
In addition, he ordered the creation of a High Council of Journalist Ethics, which will decide on media-related professional issues.
President Tebboune emphasized the need for the “domiciliation of TV channels with Algerian content before the end of the year, in coordination with the Algerian Broadcasting Company, to fight illegal transfer of currency.”
He stressed the necessity to hold Algerian nationality and have professional experience to be authorized to create media outlets.
