DOHA – Monday, 21 February 2022 (APS) – President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune met Sunday evening, in Doha, with the representatives of the national community based in Qatar, on the sidelines of his State visit at the invitation of Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

This meeting comes within the framework of the commitment of President of the Republic to listening to the concerns of the national community abroad.

The Head of State is used to holding this kind of meetings during his international trips to affirm his position on the necessity of enquiring about the concerns of the national community and addressing their problems by all the diplomatic representations abroad.

During this meeting with the national community, President Tebboune listened to their concerns and proposals and answered their questions on political and socio-economic issues related to the country as well as ways to promote the Algerian-Qatari relations.

The relations between the two countries offer “promising prospects” in several sectors, like agriculture, construction of cities, basic infrastructures and railways, he said, announcing discussions to develop the national railway network and to extend it until Tamanrasset, Adrar and even outside the country, like Niger.

In terms of transport, President Tebboune unveiled the project to open a maritime line Algiers-Doha to transport goods and passengers, adding that this project will be executed before the end of 2022.

As regards the national political issues, President Tebboune underlined that “blessed Hirak saved the country and enabled the holding of elections without fraud as well as the building of the country’s new institutions with the participation of all its children.”

At the economic level, President of the Republic affirmed that Algeria is the only country of the region that doesn’t have foreign debts, pointing out that “the non-hydrocarbon exports will reach USD7 billion next year against USD4.8 billion in 2021, with the goal to reach USD15 billion in the next few years.”

President Tebboune underlined the continuation of the fight against dirty money and the development of the national economy, through the simplification and improvement of the investment climate.

Concerning the national community based abroad, President of the Republic called on the Algerians established in Qatar and other countries for “coordination and synergy,” underscoring, in this regard, his instructions to deal with the concerns of the Algerians established abroad and to enable them to invest in Algeria in all fields.
