BEIJING – Wednesday, 19 July 2023 (APS) – President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune met Wednesday, in Beijing, with the Chinese Prime Minister LI Qiang, as part of the State visit he is paying to this country, at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

 

The meeting took place at the Great Hall of the People, in the presence of a large ministerial delegation accompanying President Tebboune and Algeria’s ambassador to China Hassan Rabhi.

During this meeting, President Tebboune said that the Algerian-Chinese relations are “excellent” and that “the two countries help and support one another.”

“China is a brotherly country, a country that has become a global force at the economic, diplomatic and military levels,” he underlined.

President Tebboune affirmed that the projects discussed Tuesday during his talks with his Chinese counterpart were “structuring projects,” pointing out that Algeria is resolutely moving towards a new era “as a military, economic and diplomatic power in Africa.”

Algeria “needs the Chinese experience,” he added, expressing the hope to “reach positive results as soon as possible.”

President Tebboune reiterated “Algeria’s willingness to cooperate with China in all fields, like the exploitation of mines and the development and construction of factories,” hailing, in this regard, the construction by a Chinese partner of an electric car battery plant in Algerian, as well as the execution of electronic industries projects.

For his part, Chinese Prime Minister affirmed that his country seek to make the State visit paid by President Tebboune to China “a new start in the relations” between Algeria and China, in order to achieve the two countries’ aspirations.
