TIZI-OUZOU – Saturday, 26 March 2022 (APS) – The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune paid tribute on Saturday to Colonel Si Amirouche Ait Hamouda, Commander of the historic Province III, who fell on the field of honor 63 years ago, calling him one of the symbols of the sacrifice made by the Algerian people for freedom.

In a message read on his behalf by the Adviser to the President of the Republic in charge of national, international, and non-governmental organizations, Hamid Lounaouci, on the occasion of the tribute to the memory of the martyr, held at Tassaft-Ouguemoune( commune of Iboudrarene, province of Tizi-Ouzou), President Tebboune said: “I want to share with you this historic moment of commemoration of one of our most valiant symbols who, through their commitment and sacrifice, enable us to celebrate the eternal memory of Si Amirouche and his companions.”

Through Colonel Si Amirouche, I want to pay tribute to all the Shouhada (martyrs) and Mujahideen (war veterans) who sacrificed themselves so that our homeland is freed from colonialism,” he said.

“Colonel Si Amirouche was and remains one of the symbols of the sacrifice made by the Algerian people for their freedom,” he continued.

The President of the Republic stressed that “his death alongside his brother Colonel Si El-Haoues on March 29, 1959 at Djebel Thameur near Bousaada, after a bitter battle, proves that the National Liberation War was a struggle that has ignited the entire national territory.”

“I would like to tell the Algerian men and women, who fortunately did not experience the horrors of colonialism and the extreme violence that our people suffered, particularly our youth, that they must at all costs pool their efforts to consolidate, whenever fate calls us, the unity of the Nation. It is an everyday responsibility,” wrote the head of state in his message.
