CHERCHELL (Tipaza) – Sunday, 09 July 2023 (APS) – The president of the Republic, commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defence, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired Sunday at Houari Boumediene Military Academy of Cherchell the annual graduation ceremony.

The ceremony awarding the graduating classes from different training institutions under the People’s National Army (2022-2023) started by welcoming the president of the Republic by General Saïd Chanegriha, the chief of the Army staff.

The President of the Republic afterward reviewed a military detachment, who gave him the honors, at the entrance to the military academy before listening to the national anthem.

The ceremony opened with a squadron of six training aircraft decorating the academy’s skies in the national colors before a formation of six helicopters paid tribute to the President of the Republic.

The President of the Republic gave his approval for the outgoing promotions to be named after the late mujahid, Colonel Mohamed Salah Yahiaoui.

A series of parades featuring military and sporting displays by various Army formations followed.

In his opening address, Army General Said Chanegriha hailed “the personal supervision of the President of the Republic, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, Minister of National Defense, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, of the graduation ceremony at Cherchell Military Academy, the backbone of the Army training system.”

Army General Saïd Chanegriha praised the special interest attached to the Academy, like other Army training schools, “evidenced in the provision of all the human resources and material means to implement the strategy of modernizing and professionalizing the military institution.”
