ALGIERS – Thursday, 02 November 2023 (APS) – President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune has decided to support the national initiative to fight cancer with all required financial resources, allocating to this purpose USD70 billion from the National Fund for the Fight Against Cancer.

In a message Thursday to the participants in the 22nd Congress of the Arab Medical Association Against Cancer (AMAAC) and the 15th Oncology congress at the Abdellatif-Rahal International Conference Centre, in Algiers, read on his behalf by the advisor to the presidency of the Republic, Mohamed Seghir Saadaoui, the president of the Republic said “the National Fund for the Fight Against Cancer will also benefit from USD30 billion from 2024,” stressing the need to “ensure a better distribution of cancer centers across the country.

A total of “50,000 cases of cancer were recorded in Algeria in 2022,” the president of the Republic said, adding that the registered cases “require improvement and emergency adjustments,” by “giving priority to the fight against cancer.”
