ALGIERS – Monday, 20 March 2023 (APS) – The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune chaired Monday a meeting of the Council of Ministers, during which he gave a series of directives, instructions, and advice on the performance of the Government, calling on the new ministers to live up to the aspirations of our fellow citizens, said the Council of Ministers in a statement.

At the beginning of the meeting, President Tebboune congratulated the new members of the Government and wished them success. He then called them to work to be “up to the aspirations of our fellow citizens,” said the same source.

The President of the Republic has given a series of directives, instructions, and advice on the performance of the government.

He ordered the Prime Minister to “hold government meetings, if necessary, and direct all efforts to the work on the ground. Today, Algeria does not need to enact laws that could disrupt the lives of citizens, but rather to cancel some, which have become obsolete.”

In this regard, President Tebboune stressed the need to “focus on the implementation of programs and projects that affect millions of Algerians, and show foresight in terms of welfare and comfort of citizens, as provided in the presidential program voted by the people,” said the same source.

He gave instructions to “strengthen coordination between the Chief of Staff at the Presidency of the Republic and the Secretary General of the Government to ensure a rigorous monitoring, and a firm implementation of the decisions of the Council of Ministers.”

President Tebboune also ordered the Minister of Interior, under the supervision of the Prime Minister, to establish a schedule of field visits by members of the Government to the country’s provinces, based on the priorities of development and daily concerns of citizens, warning ministers against any unfounded promises made to citizens in unreasonable time and according to unthinking mechanisms.

Besides, the Head of State ordered the Government to “abstain definitively from any exaggerated use of stereotyped political expressions glorifying personalities, through all media supports, and implying that any activity of the Government, whatever its nature, is carried at the behest of the President of the Republic.”

He insisted on “the strict respect of the citizens and the general feeling in any step undertaken, in the sense that the satisfaction of the people is the only criterion witnessing the good performance, in order to build a respectable and strong Algeria.”
