ALGIERS – Wednesday, 31 August 2022 (APS) – President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embalo hailed Tuesday the pivotal role of Algeria in achievin security and stability in Africa, saying that the African continent was strongly relying on Algeria in this matter.
“I would like to express our affection and our willingness to strengthen relations between our two countries, especially since the role of Algeria is central and important in establishing the links of African unity, the fight against terrorism and the achievement of security and stability on the continent,” said Umaro Sissoco Embalo in a joint press statement with President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, at the end of their talks at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic.
The President of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau also welcomed the important role of Algeria on the African and international scenes, saying that “the countries of West Africa are aware of the role that Algeria plays in achieving stability in this region, like in Mali.
In addition, the guest of Algeria welcomed the decision of President Tebboune to open an Algerian embassy in Guinea-Bissau, expressing his gratitude and appreciation to the President of the Republic.
Regarding his invitation by President Tebboune to make a state visit to Algeria, Umaro Sissoco Embalo said that both countries’ foreign ministers will be preparing for this visit which should be marked by the signing of several agreements, he said.
