ALGIERS – Friday, 20 October 2023 (APS) – Prime Minister Aymen Benabderrahmane, in reply to the concerns raised by the members of the Council of the Nation (upper house of Parliament) on the General Policy Statement of the Government on Thursday, stressed the “unprecedented” efforts made by Algeria in terms of investment.

In a plenary session chaired by the speaker of the Council of the Nation, Salah Goudjil, in the presence of members of the government, Benabderrahmane emphasized Algeria’s unprecedented efforts, over two years, to launch strategic projects, including all sensitive sectors, in addition to projects in hydraulics, agriculture and housing.

Regarding investments in 2022, the prime minister said they reached a total of DZD 3,913 billion, and a higher figure in 2023 as it has reached DZD 4,019 billion.

Those budgets have been devoted to several structuring projects, including the integrated phosphate projects of Gara Djebilet and the zinc projects in Oued Amizour, according to the premier.

Benabderrahmane stressed their contribution to diversifying the sources of revenues, in addition to making the country a regional leader in the exportation of various raw materials.
