ALGIERS – Thursday, 16 November 2023 (APS) – The Speaker of the Council of the Nation Salah Goudjil reiterated Wednesday, in Algiers, his call to the Palestinians on the imperative unification of the efforts of the Palestinian factions by drawing inspiration from the unity among Algerian revolutionaries, a key foundation during the War of the Liberation, stressing that New Algeria, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, is advancing on the same path, will never let down the Palestinian people and will continue to defend them in all forums to achieve their self-determination.
In a conference he hosted at the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations, at the University of Algiers 3, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the proclamation of the establishment of the State of Palestine in Algeria, Goudjil said that Algeria, which suffered 132 years of French colonization, managed to break free from its grip thanks to “the unity and the unification of the voice of the Algerian people, by prioritizing the national interests over personal ones.”
On this occasion, the Mujahid Goudjil called the Palestinian factions to truly implement “Algiers declaration” signed in October 2022, under the direct supervision of the President of the Republic, aimed at “thwarting any attempt to bury the Palestinian resistance and revolution, given the need to build a Palestinian front capable of confronting the oppressive policies of the colonizer in a context marked by the inertia of the international community, failing to achieve a just solution aligned with the Arab Peace Initiative adopted at the 2002 Beirut summit.”
Goudjil also underscored “Algeria’s unconditional backing, people and government, for the Palestinian cause,” noting that the New Algeria, led by the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and inspired by the values of 1 November 1954, “continues its unwavering support, and will not let down the Palestinian people by continuing to defend their right to self-determination in international forums.”
The conference was attended by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, the Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Algiers, Fayez Abu Aita, as well as university teachers and students.
The participants observed, on the occasion, a minute’s silence in memory of the martyrs of the just Palestinian cause, as well as in memory of the iconic martyr Yasser Arafat, whose 19th anniversary is commemorated by the Arab nation.
