ALGIERS – Saturday, 07 October 2023 (APS) – Algerian diplomacy, which celebrates its National Day on 8 October, the date on which Algeria joined the United Nations in 1962, continues, under the leadership of President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to play a decisive role in ensuring peace, stability, security and global development in the world, on the basis of a series of principles that represent the country’s policy.

In this regard, National Diplomacy Day coincides with an international situation marked by instability in neighbouring countries, as well as international tensions.

Thanks to its experienced diplomats, Algeria has successfully managed to act as a mediator and settle crises and conflicts at continental level, while remaining faithful to its principles, namely the constancy of its positions and its firm rejection of interference in other countries’ internal affairs.

Algeria’s efforts to resolve the crises in Mali and Libya, in particular, have been repeatedly praised by the international community.

In Mali, for example, Algeria, which plays the leading role in international mediation, is constantly calling for the speedy implementation of the Peace and Reconciliation Agreement resulting from the Algiers process (concluded in 2015).

Algiers also continues to defend just causes and support the independence of colonized countries, including Western Sahara and Palestine.
