ALGIERS – Monday, 25 December 2023 (APS) – President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced on Monday in Algiers the recovery of more than $30 billion in embezzled funds, including sums of money, real estate and industrial units.

 

In his speech to the nation during the extraordinary session of the two chambers of parliament at the Palace of Nations in Algiers, the President of the Republic said that “the ongoing fight against all forms of corruption and the recovery of funds embezzled from the people during the reign of the Issaba (gang) has enabled the recovery of more than $30 billion comprising real estate, industrial units and sums of money.”

“Work is continuing to recover the funds embezzled abroad,” said President Tebboune, stressing that “a number of European countries have expressed their willingness to give back the embezzled funds to the people.”
