ALGIERS – Thursday, 06 July 2023 (APS) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad organized Thursday, in its headquarters in Algiers, a ceremony celebrating the 61st anniversary of the Day of Independence and Youth, in the presence of the ministry’s executives.

After laying a wreath at the commemorative stele and reciting the first chapter of the Holy Quran “surat al-Fatiha,” a minute’s silence was observed in the memory of the Revolution’s martyrs.

This traditional ceremony is organized every year by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad to commemorate the huge sacrifices of the martyrs and mujahedeen of the National Liberation War for the liberation of the country and the recovery of the national sovereignty.

In a speech made on the occasion, the interim Director General of Communication, Information and Documentation at the ministry Abdallah Boukemache underlined the Algerian people’s “huge sacrifices,” who remained committed to the sacred national principles “with determination and force by waging a fierce war against the colonizer.”

For Boukemache, the Algerian Glorious Revolution “was and remains a source of inspiration and a model to follow for the peoples under occupation. Among the fruits of the sacrifices of our brave people throughout history we can mention the support of the liberation movements worldwide, the raising of the international community’s awareness on the necessity of eradicating colonialism and the peoples’ right to self-determination, through UN mechanisms.”
