ALGIERS – Wednesday, 13 December 2023 (APS) – The minister of Communication, Mohamed Laagab, and the minister of Transports, Mohamed El Habib Zahana, signed Tuesday a framework agreement related to reductions in airfare for sports journalists tasked with covering African sports competitions, in line with the decisions of the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, announced on 3 December 2023, during the ceremony of the President award for professional journalist, the ministry of Communication said in a statement.
According to this five-year renewable agreement, “media outlets wishing to cover African sports competitions will benefit from discounts on external flight ticket prices of up to 50% excluding tax, provided they present a mission order issued by the media outlet covering the event or the activity,” the statement said.
“This agreement urges the national media beneficiaries of airfare ticket discounts to highlight the role of Air Algérie in guaranteeing coverage of sports competitions and to promote the public’s right to access real-time live sports news,” the statement wrapped up.
