ALGIERS – Friday, 09 June 2023 (APS) – The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohamed Abdelhafid Henni held a working session with his Venezuelan counterpart, Castro Soteldo, in Caracas, which provided an opportunity to review the ways to develop cooperation between the two countries in the field of agriculture, said Friday the Ministry in a communiqué.

The meeting, which took place in the presence of agriculture officials from both countries and Algeria’s ambassador to Venezuela, was held in conjunction with the 4th session of the Algeria-Venezuela Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Commercial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation (June 8-9), the statement said.

During the meeting, the two ministers “discussed several issues of interest to both countries, in particular agricultural production,” said the same source, stressing that Henni highlighted “the potential of the partnership in promising fields such as the development of seeds and seedlings, genetic improvement of animal production, dairy production, veterinary health, and plant protection.”

Henni stressed “the need for both parties to exchange knowledge and expertise, and to take advantage of progress made in scientific and technological research to move towards modern agriculture.”
