ORAN – Thursday, 08 December 2022 (APS) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, received Wednesday in Oran, UN Under-Secretary General in charge of peace operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix.
The meeting, held on the sidelines of the 9th High-Level Conference on Peace and Security in Africa, focused on developments at the continental level and prospects for strengthening cooperation between Algeria and the United Nations in promoting peace and security on the African continent.
During this meeting, Algeria’s efforts to end the crisis in Mali, at the head of international mediation and through its chairmanship of the Committee responsible for monitoring the Peace and Reconciliation Agreement in this country, resulting from the Algiers process.
At the end of this meeting, Lacroix told the press that this 9th High Level Conference on Peace and Security in Africa was “very important for the United Nations, given the cooperation between the UN organization and the African Union, and the several challenges facing the African continent and which concern the United Nations whether related to development, climate change or security and peace.
