ALGIERS – Tuesday, 31 January 2023 (APS) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ramtane Lamamra received Monday the Speaker of the Palestinian National Council Rouhi Fattouh as part of his participation in the 17th Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States Conference (PUIC).

 

The meeting enabled the two sides to discuss the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, the scene of violent escalations committed by the Zionist occupier against the Palestinian people.

In this regard, the minister underlined the instructions of President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, as the current chairman of the Arab Summit, in order to “act at different levels to put an end to these violations and ensure the international protection of the Palestinian people.”

The two sides discussed also the efforts made as part of the completion of the process launched by the President of the Republic to unify the Palestinian ranks, an initiative which was crowned by the signing of the “Declaration of Algiers” by the Palestinian brothers committed to giving concrete expression to the provisions of this document, according the source.

In a statement to the press following the audience granted to him by the head of the Algerian Diplomacy, Rouhi Fattouh said that he transmitted to the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune a message from his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas in which he reiterated his thanks for the Algerian initiative and the agreement signed by the Palestinian factions in Algeria, expressing the wish “to implement these efforts on the ground.”

“Under the aegis of Algeria, we will manage to implement the provisions of the agreement as part of a united Palestinian government,” he underlined, thanking the Algerian people and government for the moves undertaken to unify the ranks of the Palestinian people.
