ALGIERS – Sunday, 06 March 2022 (APS) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra paid Sunday a working visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan “as part of efforts to tighten relations of brotherhood and bilateral cooperation and consultation on regional and international issues of common interest,” said the Foreign Ministry in a statement. 

“In his capacity as Special Envoy of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra made a working visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan under efforts to tighten relations of brotherhood and bilateral cooperation and consultation on regional and international issues of common interest,” said the source.

On this occasion, “Lamamra was received at Basman Palace by Jordan’s sovereign, Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein to whom he delivered a message from the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune and conveyed his fraternal greetings and best wishes on the occasion of the centenary of the brotherly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The Jordanian sovereign Abdullah II tasked Lamamra with conveying his heartfelt greetings and wishes of health to his brother President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and more progress and prosperity to the Algerian people,” said the source.

“The meeting was an opportunity to discuss fraternal relations between the two countries and peoples and the prospects for strengthening them. They also exchanged views on developments in the international scene and their possible impact on the Arab region, in light of the Arab Summit to take place in Algiers this year,” said the FM.

The minister also held talks with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Hussein Abdullah Al-Safadi, on “ways to give a fresh impetus to cooperation relations between the two countries under upcoming bilateral events, including the 9th session of the Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation.

The two FMs agreed “to conduct a comprehensive assessment of all bilateral conventions and study the possibility of strengthening and adapting the legislation to encourage trade and investment between the two countries.”

The two sides emphasized the need to boost consultation and political coordination between the diplomatic corps of the two countries, and agreed on the need for a legal mechanism that will be signed soon,” said the source.
