ORAN – Friday, 09 December 2022 (APS) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ramtane Lamamra held Friday, in Oran, talks with the African Union (AU) Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security Bankole Adeoye.

In a statement to the press following this meeting, the AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, who participated in the 9th High-Level Conference on Peace and Security in Africa, which wrapped up on Thursday, said that the discussions focused on the possibilities of combining efforts to achieve sustainable peace in the Sahel region.

 

He said that the African Union’s members States should work together to find rapid solutions in order to achieve peace and security in the Sahel.

He added that the talks focused also on the situation in Libya and ways to restore the constitutional order, stressing that AU is ready to move forward, with active members like Algerian, to reach solutions that contribute to peace and security in the different regions.

He also congratulated Algeria for having hosted the 9th High-Level Conference on Peace and Security in Africa, dubbing “successful” the event.
