CAIRO (Egypt) – Wednesday, 07 September 2022 (APS) – The secretary general of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, expressed Tuesday, in Cairo, his wish for the next Arab Summit in Algiers, early November, to be a turning point in the joint Arab action and to “establish unity and cohesion.”
“We are optimistic about the Algiers Summit in November. We pray Allah that it would be a turning point in the history of the joint Arab action and would establish unity and cohesion, and be the genuine expression of the public opinion in our Arab countries who wish to see their leaders united, with a unified position,” Abou Gheit said in an address at the 158th session of the Arab League Council, held at the level of Foreign Ministers.
The ultimate goal, he added, “challenges us to settle our disputes and clear all obstacles, by putting higher Arab interests above any other consideration, concerned to preserve the strong bond that unites us.”
“Despite the crises and challenges they are facing, Arab countries are able to meet the challenges as a strong regional group.”
