ALGIERS – Tuesday, 24 October 2023 (APS) – The Algerian and Kuwaiti Parliaments submitted a request to include an emergency item on the agenda of the 147th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which is held in Angola, entitled “Ending the war and human rights violations in Gaza,” the Council of the Nation said Tuesday in a statement.
According to the source, “this item will be presented to the Assembly with requests coming from the Indonesian and Iranian Parliaments, on behalf of the Asian Group, and a request from the South African Parliament, on behalf of the African Group.”
This comes, added the source, “within the framework of an important parliamentary mobilization to condemn and put an end to the genocide and criminal aggression committed by the occupation against the strip and Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.”
This move aims to “require the delivery of humanitarian aid and the implementation of the resolutions of the international legality, while calling on the international community not to be content only with the humanitarian aspect when protecting the peoples’ rights,” said the source.
