ALGIERS – Wednesday, 13 September 2023 (APS) – Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning Brahim Merad, accompanied by Minister of Health Abdelhak Saihi, Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Affairs Kaouter Krikou, as well as the president of the Algerian Red Crescent (CRA) Ibtissam Hamlaoui, was received by the President of the Libyan Presidential Council Mohamed Younes El-Menfi.

 

According to the ministry’s communiqué, the Algerian delegation transmitted “the condolences of the President of the Republic, the Algerian Government and people to the brotherly Libyan country, following the deadly floods that hit several Libyan cities,” reaffirming “Algeria’s unconditional solidarity with Libya, as well as its willingness to support it to overcome the after-effects of the floods, by sending the necessary aid.”

The delegation underlined, according to the source, “the launch by Algeria of operations to send humanitarian aid to Libya, via the airlift decided by the President of the Republic.”

The Algerian delegation arrived Tuesday in Tripoli, in implementation of “the instructions of the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune to urgently send important humanitarian aid to the disaster-stricken regions of the brotherly State of Libya, following the devastating floods that affected the country.”
