ALGIERS – Thursday, 13 October 2022 (APS) – The National Human Rights Council (CNDH) hailed Wednesday in a statement Algeria’s duly deserved membership in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for the next three years (2023 -2025).

According to the source, “Algeria has brilliantly obtained the quality of full member within the UNHRC for the next three years (2023-2025) in view of its key role at the regional and international levels,” recalling “the country’s support for the principles and values of human rights throughout the world.”

“Algeria, which has just regained its place within the UNHRC for the third time since the creation of this body in 2006, will contribute, as it has always done, to the protection of human rights,” said the source.

“This return is an undeniable affirmation of Algeria’s activism and support for human rights issues and oppressed peoples,” said the CNDH.

“The fact that Algeria has obtained this important place within the international community will undoubtedly boost its candidacy for the Security Council.”

“Algeria’s status as a full member of the UNHRC will give greater scope to its voice about dozens of suggestions and decisions submitted to this council for debate,” said the statement.
