ALGIERS – Tuesday, 13 June 2023 (APS) – The number of passengers transiting through Algiers Houari Boumediene International Airport reached 1.7 million in the first quarter of 2023, via 17,500 national and international flights, APS learned from the Customs Department.

During the first quarter of the current year, the Customs divisional inspectorate at Houari Boumediene Airport recorded 270,000 departing passengers and over 276,000 arriving passengers on domestic flights.

As for international flights, this customs office, which specializes in passenger and baggage handling, recorded the departure of over 640,000 passengers and the arrival of almost 511,000 over the same period.

As for the daily average of passengers processed on departure, it reached 7,100 on departure and 5,680 on arrival.

In 2022, passenger numbers exceeded 6.328 million on domestic flights (over 1 million departures and 1.112 million arrivals) and international flights (over 2 million departures and over 2 million arrivals), compared with 668,000 passengers in 2021.

The daily average of passengers handled at the same airport totaled 5,800 departing passengers and 5,700 arriving passengers last year.

In the first quarter of the current year, the number of departing and arriving flights reached 17,500, divided into 8,000 domestic and 9,500 international flights.

The average daily number of flights handled at the same airport was 52 departures and 53 arrivals.
