ALGIERS – Monday, 16 January 2023 (APS) – General Said Chanegriha, the chief of staff of the People’s National Army, supervised Monday, in In-Amenas, the ceremonies commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Tiguentourine events, accompanied by the minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, the ministry of National Defense said in a statement.

“As part of the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Tiguentourine events, and in coordination with the ministry of Energy and Mines, General Said Chanegriha, the chief of staff of the People’s National Army, supervised, along with the minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, on Monday 16 January 2023 in In-Amenas (fourth military region), the ceremonies commemorating the events, in the presence of the Command of the 4th military region, general officers of the general staff of the army, the chief executive officer of Sonatrach, Toufik Hakkar, in addition to a number of ambassadors and defence attachés accredited to Algiers and the region’s civil and military local authorities,” the statement said.

Following the flag raising ceremony and the rendition of the national anthem at the Gas Complex of Tiguentourine, General Said Chanegriha, along with the minister of Energy and Mines, laid a wreath at the commemorative stone of Tiguentourine events, in the presence of representatives of diplomatic agencies accredited to Algeria.

The participants afterwards observed a minute of silence in tribute to the victims of the criminal attack on this extremely vital gas complex.
