ALGIERS – Tuesday, 25 July 2023 (APS) – Army General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, received on Tuesday at the headquarters of the People’s National Army Italian Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, who is on a visit to Algeria, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
“General Saïd Chanegriha, Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, received on Tuesday 25 July 2023, at the headquarters of the People’s National Army, the Italian Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, who is visiting Algeria at the head of a large military delegation,” the same source said.
The welcoming ceremony began by saluting the national flag, followed by a military greeting to the guests by a military group representing the various forces of the ANP, said the source.
The meeting was attended by “the military and national gendarmerie commanders, the heads of departments and central directors of the MDN and the ANP General Staff, as well as members of the Italian military delegation.”
After welcoming the Italian military delegation, the Army General stressed that “Algerian-Italian relations are imbued with a mutual trust built up over several decades of positive and constructive cooperation, based on a shared regional history and the aspiration to serve the interests of both peoples and to strengthen peace and security in the Mediterranean.”
“This visit is a continuation of the exchange of visits between Algeria and Italy, which reflects the quality of bilateral relations in various fields, and reflects the political will of the leaders of the two countries to promote a strategic partnership par excellence,” he said.
“These relations are imbued with a mutual trust built up over several decades of positive and constructive cooperation, based on our shared regional history and Mediterranean values, as well as the aspiration to serve the interests of our two peoples and to strengthen peace and security in the Mediterranean,” he added.
