General Chanegriha receives Italy’s Minister of Defense

“The Chief of Staff of the People’s National Army, General Saïd Chanegriha, received in audience, this Wednesday 27 September 2023, at the General Staff of the People’s National Army, the Italian Minister of Defense Guido Crosetto, who is on a working visit to Algeria at the head of a high-level delegation,” said the source.

The welcoming ceremony “began by a salute to the national flag, listening to the national anthem and the military honors presented to the guest by detachments representing the different Army Forces.”

The meeting was attended by “the Secretary General of the National Defense Ministry, the Commanders of Forces, of the National Gendarmerie, the Heads of Departments and the central Directors of the General Staff of the People’s National Army and of the Ministry of the National Defense, as well as the members of the Italian delegation,” added the source.

“During this audience, the two sides reviewed the fields of military cooperation between the two countries’ Armies and ways to develop and strengthen the coordination on issues of common interest, reflecting thereby the deep historical relations between the two friendly countries.”

“They discussed the security challenges in the Mediterranean and exchanges points of view on different topical issues,” added the source.

In this regard, “General Chanegriha made an address, at the beginning of which he welcomed the Italian minister of Defense, as well as the delegation accompanying him, before shedding light on the age-old and strong character of the Algerian-Italian relations and the two countries’ potentialities, likely to contribute to the implementation of a qualitative and lasting cooperation,” said the source.
