ALGIERS – Wednesday, 06 December 2023 (APS) – Gara Djebilet mine in the province of Tindouf (around 2000 km southwest of Algiers) is one of the flagships of the deep transformation policy of Algeria adopted by the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
It is an old dream that comes finally true. Gara Djebilet, this mine, subject to many research studies, has finally shown up.
There have been many projects for the exploitation of this mine, with huge resources, for more than sixty years but haven’t seen the light of day.
President Tebboune took the step, he who is firmly convinced of the fact that Algeria will be a mining and an emerging power. He decided to put an end to the stillborn projects of Gara Djebilet.
He realized the wish of Tindouf’s population who place big hopes on the exploitation of this “gold” mine. The exploitation of the mine is henceforth a reality.
The President of the Republic, who is shaping Algeria of the 2030s and the 2040s, has also decided to endow Tindouf with a railway line. The brave inhabitants of this province have been claiming a rail link for decades. “A train in Tindouf, a dream that has come true,” said a citizen from Tindouf while welcoming the President of the Republic.
30 November 2023 is a historic day, marking the province’s access to universality, and also the first visit of a head of State to this province, which has long suffered from marginalization.
