ALGIERS – Wednesday, 21 June 2023 (APS) – The Minister of Finance, Laaziz Faid took part on Wednesday in Vienna (Austria) in the ministerial session of the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), dedicated to the review and approval of the institution’s activity reports, as well as the adoption of its annual financial statements, according to a Ministry press release.

On the sidelines of this ministerial session, Faid held talks with OFID’s Director General, Abdulhamid Alkhalifa, with whom “he exchanged views on development challenges and the role this institution could play in helping developing countries meet them.”

Discussions focused on “the missions assigned to OFID since its creation in Algeria in 1976, which concern the promotion of development, the consolidation of communities, and the empowerment of populations.”

The two parties also discussed “the possibility of organizing the 50th anniversary of the creation of OFID scheduled for two years from now in Algeria,” according to the same source.

In addition, the Finance Minister met his Iranian counterpart at OFID headquarters in Vienna, with whom he discussed “the state and prospects of cooperation between the two countries, as well as ways to boost them.”
