ALGIERS – Thursday, 22 June 2023 (APS) – Minister of Finance, Laaziz Faid, travelled to Paris (France) on Wednesday to take part, as the representative of President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, at the Summit for a New Global Financial Pact, scheduled to take place on 22 and 23 June, the Finance Ministry said in a communiqué.

This event, which will bring together heads of state and government, heads of multilateral financial institutions, international organizations, representatives of the private sector and civil society, aims to “shed light on several agendas (climate, debt and sustainable development goals) in order to adopt appropriate recommendations to provide innovative solutions to the challenges facing vulnerable and low-income countries,” according to the source.

Algeria’s participation in this Summit testifies to “the interest shown by the country’s authorities to contribute to the development of the finance sector in the face of multidimensional crises linked in particular to the covid-19 pandemic, the over-indebtedness situation and climate change, all of which require the creation of a sustained dynamic able to achieve a new financial pact between the North and the South,” said the Ministry.
