ALGIERS – Monday, 06 November 2023 (APS) – The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab received Monday the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Italian company “ZHERO”, specialized in renewable energy, Alessandra Pasini, with whom he discussed ways to boost investment in the field of new and renewable energy, according to a Ministry press release.
During the meeting, which took place at the Ministry’s headquarters in the presence of Italia’s ambassador to Algeria and Ministry officials, the two officials discussed the ways to boost cooperation and investment in new and renewable energy, in particular the production of electricity from photovoltaic solar energy, electricity interconnection with Italy, and the development of green hydrogen and ammonia, said the press release.
Arkab made a comprehensive presentation on Sonatrach Group’s program for the development of new and renewable energy in Algeria, as well as the national hydrogen development strategy.
The Minister also affirmed the sector’s readiness to strengthen cooperation on investment in renewable energy, to provide practical, technical and scientific mechanisms, to exchange experience and to ensure training and technology transfer.
For her part, Pasini made a presentation on a project for the development of renewable energy and the production of green electricity in Algeria, based on state-of-the-art technologies.
At the end of the meeting, the two parties agreed to set up a joint working group to study all aspects of the project presented by ZHERO, according to the Ministry.
