ALGIERS – Wednesday, 29 November 2023 (APS) – The Director General of National Police, Farid Bencheikh has been participating since Tuesday in Vienna (Austria) in the 91st session of the General Assembly of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), said the Directorate General of National Police (DGSN) in a statement.
Coinciding with the centenary of the creation of Interpol, the 91st session, whose opening ceremony was attended by Algeria’s Ambassador to Vienna, Larbi Latroch, will run for four days and will focus on “strengthening the mechanisms of operational and technical police cooperation mechanisms to deal with security threats of common interest,” said the source.
On the sidelines of this session, Bencheikh held talks with his Russian and Swiss counterparts, upon their request, on “the ways to boost cooperation and exchange of expertise between the countries’ police,” said the source.
The DG of National Police is accompanied by the Director of Judicial Police, the head of Interpol’s National Central Bureau (BCN) in Algeria and the head of the police of the province of El Oued,” said the source.
