ALGIERS – Wednesday, 23 August 2023 (APS) – The Speaker of the People’s National Assembly (Lower House), Brahim Boughali said in Teheran that his visit to Iran aimed at boosting economic ties between the two countries, said Tuesday the assembly in a communiqué.

Speaking at a joint press conference with the President of the Iranian Consultative Assembly, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Boughali pointed out that the development of economic relations between the two countries was one of the goals of his visit to Iran, believing that Algeria’s investment law “will facilitate efforts in this direction under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune”, the press release said.

“I hope that the numerous visits and mutual meetings at all levels will contribute to boosting bilateral cooperation. I call for closer cooperation and coordination, notably within the framework of the Parliamentary Union of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (UPCI), to prevent any acts of aggression against Muslims,” he continued.

The Iranian official stressed “the importance of activating the joint economic commission between the two countries”, underlining “the will to develop bilateral economic relations, notably through the consolidation of parliamentary relations and the activation of the role of the two parliamentary friendship groups.”
