ALGIERS – Thursday, 18 August 2022 (APS) – Secretary General (SG) of Ministry of Health Abdelhak Saihi received a delegation from the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) led by Louis Sambo, said the ministry on Wednesday in a statement.

During this meeting, held in the presence of executives from the ministry, Director General of Pasteur Institute and the Director of the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), Saihi expressed the sector’s readiness to cooperate with the African body in terms of support, exchange of experience and coping with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Referring to the State’s approach to the fight against Covid, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health highlighted the importance of continuing the efforts made by Algeria, in terms of communication, preventive measures, vaccination, and also mobilization of human and material resources.

It will also be necessary to develop new prospects for cooperation with the Africa CDC in epidemiological surveys, research, and the creation of laboratory network systems.

The aim is to achieve skills, information and communication exchange.

In this regard, Louis Sambo said he was “delighted” to visit Algeria a second time, during which he met with officials from several sectors involved in the fight against Covid-19, in order to strengthen partnership and cooperation between Algeria and Africa CDC, concluded the source.
