ALGIERS – Tuesday, 26 September 2023 (APS) – The Speaker of the People’s National Assembly Brahim Boughali reiterated Tuesday Algeria’s solidarity with the Sahrawi people in their legitimate struggle for self-determination, affirming that this position emanates from the consistent principles of Algeria and its efforts, under the leadership of the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to establish peace and security in the region.
Boughali spoke in a diploma awarding ceremony of the 1st class of the deputies of the Sahrawi National Council (CNS) that participated in a training session of the People’s National Assembly.
In this regard, Boughali reaffirmed the willingness of the People’s National Assembly to exchange expertise and experience with their counterparts of CNS, in order to consolidate the relations between the two peoples who share honorable positions and principles based on the fight for freedom and dignity.
He welcomed the fruitful results of the training session, underlining that the field visits scheduled as part of this training session showed a complementarity of the action between the constitutional institutions which tend to promote the democratic act and ensure further communication between the peoples’ representatives.
For his part, the Sahrawi ambassador Abdelkader Omar expressed his gratitude to the organizers of this session, that he dubbed “successful,” notably thanks to the quality of the lecturers and teachers.
For the Sahrawi diplomat, this session is meant to be a message which confirms the speech made by the President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune in the United Nations, announcing his solidarity with the Sahrawi people and calling on the international community and the United Nations to implement the decisions inherent to the Sahrawi cause.
He affirmed that the seat obtained by Algeria within the Security Council, as a non-permanent member, will enable it to submit the messages and concerns of Africa and Arabs, and even the international issues.
