ALGIERS – Wednesday, 01 June 2022 (APS) – Prime Minister Aimene Benabderrahmane will participate as representative of the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in Stockholm+50, a high-level international meeting on environment convened by the United Nations General Assembly to be held in Stockholm, Sweden, on Thursday and Friday (June 2-3), the Prime Minister’s Office said Wednesday in a statement.

“In his capacity as representative of President of the Republic, Mr Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the prime minister, Mr Aimene Benabderrahmane, will take part, on 2-3 June 2022, in a high-level international meeting on environment, to be held in Stockholm, Sweden, under the slogan ” “Stockholm+50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity,” the statement said.

According to the statement, the meeting held by the United Nations aims to “encourage the adoption of green post-COVID-19 recovery plans and to act as a springboard to accelerate the implementation of the UN Decade of Action to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals, including the 2030 Agenda, Paris Agreement on climate change, the post-2020 global Biodiversity Framework.”

“It will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment and celebrate 50 years of global environmental action,” the statement concluded.
